The Fashion High Tea and Concurs’ d’ Elegance rank highly in my list of fashion events not to miss. However year in year out I always seem to have something else going on and have to pass up on attending either event.
I happened to browse through the blogs and one of them had some horrid hats which frankly no woman under 30 should wear. Before you jump on my neck here’s why.
The thing about hats is we pick up whatever style we wear from young royals such as the Duchess of Cambridge and fashion icons such as Victoria Beckham.
A wide brim such as the one suggested in that blog is extremely matronly and hence left to the Queen of England, women above 40 and mothers of the bride.
Fascinators are considered an absolute no-no in England and in fact were banned at the Alcott. Sadly in Kenya we have very few milliners if any that would custom make any headpieces for you for such occasions.
This year while you consider your look for the Fashion High Tea please stay away from floppy hats- those are for the beach and wide brim hats if you are under 30.
Personally, I can’t wait to see what this trendsetting trio, Silvia Njoki, Nancie Mwai and Sheila Ndinda are going to wear. If you are out of ideas perhaps I can sell you this local design from the Fire & Ice collection by UrsTrulyGrace.
Just incase your headpiece become and issue, feel free to call up Rhea. I happen to know that she’s offering great discounts this weekend!
Let me know if you think this is what I should wear to the Fashion High Tea tomorrow.
