I have told the story before of how I re-use none fashion items as key wardrobe pieces.
Today I use two stationery items as accessory pieces. The first is this document bag sold at Tuskys Supermarket and the second is a jewel tone key-holder from House of Leather (the most underrated shop in Nairobi).
I add the key-holder to the bag to make an accessory and complement the beautiful pattern and pair it with a casual skinny jean look and heels perfect for an evening out. Just in case you thought the outfit might be too monochrome a nice pair of snakeskin print heels will give you the right pop.
These days I find myself more fond of pants and heels for a night out on the town rather than dresses. I guess this changed after years of tiny dresses in campus most of them spent chasing a friend who is either lost or too drunk to care.
I have become more prepared to chance being outside the club at 10:00 a.m the next day sorting out one thing or the other. I still wear my dresses though, just probably not in July weather. The African winter is not kind.
Next time you are in the supermarket or a stationery store don’t be afraid of using an unconventional item as a fashion piece. The secret to fashion is that there are no rules on what you wear, how you wear it and where you buy it, just rock it with confidence and everyone else will be none the wiser!
Comment below let me know if you have ever bought something unconventional and what it is and how you wore it? Remember to also follow me on Instagram @Pisces_TwentyTwo I’m hoping 5K by the end of the month
