I am writing this post as I shoot long glances at my packed suitcase, the working day just won’t end today!
Can you believe it’s already December aka the climax of the wedding season, me either! The year just flew by like a dream I can’t even begin to explain where it went. The best way to end the wedding season is definitely with a BANG! I plan on slaying all the way because why not, there really is no excuse to not be dressed up for any occasion.
I love weddings more than other occasion because they don’t come with impossible dress codes. In Africa, nailing the wedding brief is pretty easy, usually ankara passes the nosy women test and a maxi dress attracts praises from church members. In the West wedding guests dress more formally in tailored pieces, simpler is more chic and length is never really a deciding factor.
I love the mix between contemporary form and traditional fabrics. I worked with Kenyan designer UrsTruly_Grace she was able to execute my vision flawlessly. We created a two piece set of a cut-out crop top and culottes, these are amazing because they can each be worn separately as completely different outfits. They are also very trendy and youthful pieces so the ankara does not age you. Grace literally has gifted hands remember this jumpsuit?
The first look is the full set as created by Grace paired with nude and black accessories. This allows the print to pop without distraction. Culottes are absolutely amazing an a fluid alternative to the wide-leg pants. It’s like wearing a skirt and pants are the same time, comfortable and stylish.

The second look is a little more risque but perfectly suitable for a wedding. An ox-blood midi skirt complements the more vibrant purple on the crop top while metallic shoes tie the whole look together. A box clutch works well with the metallic hints of the top and forces you to reduce on baggage.
